As we go through life, we may all from time to time experience challenges that can sometimes feel too difficult or overwhelming to cope with alone. These could be anything from relationship difficulties, bereavement or loss, cultural issues, depression, anxiety, managing stress, problems at work or low self-esteem.
Whatever the issue, having a safe, supportive and confidential space to be able to talk through and explore these feelings can help you understand more about yourself. Gaining insight into your past and present way of being can lead to acceptance of who you are, growth and enable you to find new ways forward.
I am a Professionally qualified Integrative-relational psychotherapist. This means that I draw on a range of different theoretical approaches, such as humanistic, psychodynamic, CBT and mindfulness, to support the way I work. These are adapted and integrated to suit each person’s individual needs. Most importantly, I believe that if the relationship built feels trusting and supportive, this can enable safe exploration of difficult feelings and lead to greater insight, self-awareness and thus enabling internal change and empowerment.
I have previously worked as a therapist within the NHS and for a charitable counselling centre and now primarily run my private practice. In addition to this, I offer therapeutic support and supervision to parents and staff within a school. I offer individual, face-to-face therapy in the South Kensington and Thames Ditton areas.
I am an Accredited Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP Accred), which means I abide by the BACP ethical framework and principles for good practice. These can be viewed on their website.
Starting therapy can sometimes feel daunting. If you would like to discuss in confidence how therapy can help you, please call and we can have a chat over the phone. I can answer any questions you may have.
The first session is an opportunity for us to meet and discuss what brings you to therapy and how you hope the process can support you. It is a time for you to talk over any questions and explore what you aim to achieve from the therapeutic process.
If we decide to continue working together, we will arrange further sessions, usually at the same time every week. I offer both short-term, solution-focused counselling and more open-ended therapy, depending on your requirements.
My aim as a therapist is to build a safe and trusting relationship with you, my client. I believe having a supportive, confidential and non-judgemental space where difficulties can be safely and openly explored can be the key to enabling change and development.
If you have any further questions, please do contact me. We can discuss what is going on for you and I can answer questions about my services. Alternatively, you can email me on sonia@soniavohracounselling.co.uk
I practice out of two locations, South Kensington and Thames Ditton. Both locations are within walking distance of the nearest stations.
Each session is for 50 minutes.
Thames Ditton & Surbiton – £70
South Kensington – £80
